In “Mumferd’s Safety Tales”, Mumferd learns skills to help him be safe in his home and community, and brings the children along with him on his journey.   This program includes two components:  a performance, followed by a workshop two weeks later.  Program topics are based on preventable dangers to children’s health.

“Mumferd’s Safety Tales” is offered on a limited basis to schools and community groups throughout metro Atlanta.  Bookings are offered in two ways:

  1. Residency program:  Long-term residencies are offered to select locations for the school year.  Mumferd performances and follow-up workshops are scheduled once a month from August through May.  Ten residencies are offered annually on a school-calendar basis; resident partners are chosen from submitted applicants.
  2. Standard Performance:  a limited number of performances are offered to schools and community groups throughout metro Atlanta as available.

Program requirements for all Mumferd’s programming:  “Mumferd’s Safety Tales”  is best suited for  groups of under 30 children. Best for ages 3-7.  Please specify age of children attending so program may be set at appropriate age level.

Approximately 10’ x  8’ feet for stage set-up and additional room for the children to sit.  (Floor seating preferred.)

Length of performance is approximately 30 minutes; Mumferd and friend will bring in all set materials and props to the classroom; no additional set-up or break-down time is needed. Two actors portray Mumferd (a puppet) and a human host character; it is requested that an additional adult be in the room from the booking site to assist children who may need help (going to the restroom, assistance in focusing, etc.)

Please feel free to check back on status of availability of “Mumferd’s Safety Tales”.
